Burrok was the first original kaiju I made from Super Sculpy. I didn’t spend much time conceptualizing this guy. I knew I wanted something with a stocky sauropod build; the details I left for myself to discover as I went along. I ended up drawing a lot of inspiration from Ray Harryhausen’s dragon design from The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1958), which likewise has a sort of prototypical western dragon look, as well as a similar dorsal fin and elephantine skin texture. For the face and cranial horns I landed on something stout and vaguely bovine, which to my eye gives the creature a bit of kaiju spunk. During the initial sculpting stages I started working on a thick mane of fur that would flow from behind the jaws and down the neck, but ultimately I felt it looked too busy/top heavy.
